Privacy Policy

JobsToGrab (“we”, “us”) runs jobstograb.com, a job board listing verified vacancies in Kenya, East Africa, across Africa and worldwide. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, why, and the choices you have. We process personal data in line with Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019.

Information we collect

When you browse the site

You can search and read jobs without creating an account or telling us who you are.

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are visited, how people arrive (such as from WhatsApp or LinkedIn), roughly which country or city they are in, the type of device and browser, and which jobs get “Apply” clicks and shares. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. The information is reported to us in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally.

Our web hosting provider automatically keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, pages requested and the time of the request, for security and to keep the site running.

When you contact us

If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), your message, and your IP address (to protect the form from spam). If you report a job ad, we also record which job it was.

When you apply for a job

We don’t collect job applications. The “Apply” button takes you to the employer’s own website or email address, and anything you send goes directly to them. The employer’s privacy policy then applies.

When you use the CV builder

Everything you type into our CV builder, including any photo you add, is saved only in your own browser on your own device. It is never sent to us or stored on our servers. You can delete it at any time with “Start a new CV”, or by clearing your browser’s site data. Downloaded PDF, Word and backup files are saved on your device.

When you request CV writing

If you request our professional CV writing service, we collect your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, the service you want, your career level and target job, your message, the CV file you choose to upload, and your IP address (to protect the form from spam). We use this only to handle your request and contact you about it. Uploaded CV files are stored privately, are not accessible from the internet, and are deleted automatically after 90 days.

When you set up a job alert

If you create a job alert, we store your email address, the search you chose (keywords, field, location, type of employer and job), how often you want emails, when we last emailed you, and a fingerprint of your IP address (to stop abuse of the form). Your alert starts only after you confirm it from the email we send. We use your email only to send the alerts you asked for. Every alert email has a link to change or stop your alerts, and one-click unsubscribe. Alerts you don’t confirm are deleted after 7 days.

Your display preference

If you switch on dark mode, that choice is saved in your own browser so the site remembers it. It isn’t sent to us.

How we use your information

• To reply to your messages and investigate job ads you report.
• To handle CV writing requests you send us.
• To send the job alerts you signed up for.
• To keep the site secure and working, and to prevent spam and abuse.
• To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
• To show advertising, which helps keep the site free for job seekers.

We rely on your consent (for example when you send us a message, or accept cookies where we ask) and on our legitimate interest in running a safe, useful job board. We never sell your personal information.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads on this site.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them for:

• Analytics (Google Analytics), to measure how the site is used.
• Advertising (Google AdSense and its partners), to show and measure ads, and to personalise them where you allow it.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before using cookies for these purposes, and you can change your choice at any time using the privacy settings link shown on the site. Wherever you are, you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. The site still works if you block cookies.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the site: our web hosting provider, Google (Analytics), and Google and its advertising partners (AdSense). Some of these providers store data on servers outside Kenya. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep contact messages and CV writing requests only as long as we need them to respond and deal with any follow-up, and then delete them. Uploaded CV files are deleted automatically after 90 days. Job alert details are kept while your alert is on; when you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you straight away. Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Analytics account. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited time for security purposes.

Your rights

Under Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to:

• be told how your personal data is used;
• access the personal data we hold about you;
• ask us to correct or delete it;
• object to us processing it.

To use any of these rights, contact us. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to Kenya’s Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

Children

This site is for job seekers aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
